A mature woman smiling on the beachMenopause is a normal part of the aging process for women and shouldn’t be feared. However, the hormone changes that come with this phase of life can cause a variety of challenges. Some women have few or no symptoms related to menopause, while others may feel like they can barely function anymore. At Doylestown Women’s Health Center, we provide real, effective solutions for women who struggle with hormone-related symptoms during and after menopause. We have some of the most compassionate and experienced menopause doctors in Bucks County who are dedicated to creating customized treatment plans for each patient.

Menopause Symptom Checker

It can be confusing to know whether or not you are entering menopause. But if you’re experiencing the following symptoms and you’re between the ages of 40 and 60, you’re probably going through it right now:

  • Night sweats
  • Notable changes in mood
  • Hot flashes
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Vaginal dryness

Fortunately, there are things you can do to minimize your symptoms, including making specific changes to your lifestyle and receiving menopause treatments.

Lifestyle Changes

We generally recommend that our patients try lifestyle changes first to see if they can manage their symptoms that way. A few of the things we recommend include:

  • Consistent exercise
  • Avoiding “junk foods” and eating a healthy, balanced diet
  • Minimizing situations that trigger anxiety and learning stress-management techniques

If these changes don’t deliver the results you want, we may recommend hormone treatments, including vaginal estrogen therapy and hormone therapy.

Our Treatment Options

Menopause treatment is an important women’s health service we offer to females suffering through menopause. We offer two forms: hormone therapy and vaginal estrogen therapy. Hormone therapy is a combination of progesterone and estrogen delivered in cream, patch, gel or pill format. It is designed to balance hormones and minimize unpleasant side effects of menopause such as mood swings and hot flashes. It is not an appropriate treatment option for everyone, so it’s important to consult with your Bucks County female OB-GYN to determine if you’re a good candidate.

Vaginal estrogen therapy is specifically intended to reduce vaginal irritation and dryness associated with menopause. The estrogen from this treatment stays in the vaginal canal and doesn’t get into the bloodstream.
