Our helpful and compassionate staff is here to answer any questions you may have, at any time. To begin, we are highly encouraging flu vaccinations in order to keep yourself and those around you free from the infection.

Why Should I Get The Flu Vaccine?

First and foremost, the flu vaccine reduces the risk of visits to the doctor due to flu and flu symptoms by approximately 50% to 60%. While these vaccines do not guarantee protection against the flu, you are significantly less likely to get the flu with the help of a vaccine. Generally we recommend that everyone over 6 months of age should get a flu vaccine each year. If you are at a high risk of serious complications from influenza, it is even more important for you to be vaccinated. Each year, flu viruses change, and the so formula that the flu vaccine is changed and updated in order to keep up. This is also why it is extremely important to get shots every year.

How Does The Vaccine Work?

About two weeks after receiving the vaccination, the vaccine causes antibodies to develop in the body. These antibodies protect you against infection through the viruses that are in the vaccine. Though you may not know it, traditional flu vaccines are made to protect against the following three viruses: influenza A (H1N1) virus, Influenza A (H3N2) virus, and influenza B virus. There are also other flu vaccines that protect against four flu viruses (the same as the traditional vaccine in addition to another B virus). Please feel free to ask us about your options.
